At the end of the valley, he saw a girl on the white cloth. A young and beautiful girl, with her nose and cheeks red from the cold, trembling hands, was burning wood in the garden of the little hut. He was breaking it. He hesitantly moved forward, and finally the girl noticed him. When the young girl saw Matteo's military uniform and that he was wounded, she came towards him.
