He unleashed it all over the world. It got so bad that the only survivors left were Sonic, Amy, Tails, Cream, Knuckles, Rouge, Silver, Blaze, Shadow and Espio. (By the way, Silver is immune. And Shadow is half immune I guess). Espio joined Sonic's crew because Vector and Charmy got infected (poor things). Let me explain how you get infected. You get infected when you get into contact with an infected mobian. For stage one, you might feel an intense migraine. You can start to lose your fur or quills. For stage two, the place/s where you got in contact with an infected spreads all over that part, you'll lose even more fur/quills. For stage three, the metallic coating is now covering all of the unlucky mobian's body. And they'll go completely cuckoo. They lost all of their sanity and they will most likely not remember anything.
