The King trusts Jasper with his own life so when his daughter, the princess, became of age, Jasper's new responsibility was to protect her with the same passion and respect he gave the King, and that's exactly what he wanted. For the longest time, Jasper has had an interest in the princess, often keeping his eye on her quite often, just watching her go about her own life peacefully and with grace. It was his plan all along to get closer to her, to show her he could love her just as well as any royal prince could, the only problem with that is, regardless of how well respected he is by the King, the King will not approve of a union between him and the Princess.
