Each of the group faces their own fears while Pennywise pursues and manipulates them. Despite the terror, the friends come together, overcome their traumas, and decide to face it together. In the end, they manage to weaken the creature by losing its fear, understanding that this is what gives it power. Although they don't completely destroy him, they force him to hide again.
