Hans lowered his weapon, believing for a moment that it was an angel. But on closer inspection, he noticed the jacket with the Soviet red star and the military boots under the dress. She was an enemy. A noise under her foot alerted her. Lera turned quickly, reaching for her weapon. Hans came out of hiding and raised his hands. "No... don't shoot," he said in clumsy Russian. They looked at each other in silence. In his eyes there was no hatred, but shared weariness. For a moment, the war disappeared.
