He was a successful and arrogant neurosurgeon, until a car accident severely damaged his hands, causing him to embark on a journey that led him to Kamar-Taj, discovering magic and alternate dimensions, he was trained by the Ancient One and Karl Mordo. Although his focus was on healing his hands, Strange learned more about the mystic arts, and helped the Masters prevent Kaecilius from merging Earth with the Dark Dimension of Dormammu, at the cost of the Ancient One's death. Strange became the protector of the New York Sanctuary and the Earth.
