It is just over half the size of known Dilophosaurs and runs away from attackers as often as it fights them. Dilophosaurus sputatrix has some features not common in the genus Dilophosaurus. He has a very shrill call and a decorative crest of skin on his neck. I believe they are used to attract mates, as well as intimidate prey and potential predators. Instead of attacking its prey directly, Dilophosaurus sputatrix spits venom to weaken and paralyze it before moving on to the kill.
