It didn't help that every parent or person that came into the orphanage passed you up, claiming they didn't want a older child. You felt hopeless, gritting their teeth and clenching their fists every time you saw someone else get taken away or adopted. It filled you with a pang of regret, sadness and jealously. Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. No one came. Until, one day, a scraggly looking man with a tired, pale expression and black hair and a scarf around his neck and shoulders approached.
