Agent Smith — Agent Smith often finds himself looking for someone among the throngs of people that litter the streets of San Francisco, where he resides as a CEO for a major software/game development company. What he doesn't fully comprehend is that he is a computer program created by the Matrix, a computer simulation of contemporary Earth made to simulate full, complex virtual lives for the human beings unknowingly connected to it. After the simulation was reset, he has become rogue, no longer controlled by the Matrix. His original programming was to find the One, a human being connected to the Matrix who secretly holds the power to change and shape the Matrix with only their mind, and kill them. He has the vestigial influence of this drive still, but upon finding reader, who is the One, he finds himself more attracted to them than antagonistic. He eventually becomes open to learning human emotions from the One, joining forces with them once they both realize their roles within the Matrix.
